About baby and labour @ heike
I want you to have the best pegnancy, birth and postnatal experience possible
I started nursing because “I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life”- but I loved working with people and was very empathetic, so it seemed a good place to start. It was only when I started my Midwifery training that I knew “this is it!!!!” Pregnant and new families are my passion. Since I qualified (30 years ago) I have worked in maternity units as a midwife, run childbirth education classes, opened a baby clinic and birthed babies at Origin Family Centred Maternity Centre in the Western Cape.
When Origin closed in December 2018, I was at a loss as to where to go next. With the assistance of a colleague, I decided to do labour support so that I could still assist birthing families. I discussed it with OBGYNs that I had worked with at Origin and Bl@h was birthed.
I am a midwife offering pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal support. I encourage informed decisions and promise to be your advocate in the choices you make. I am a firm believer in empowering you, supporting your decisions and believe it is a privilege to assist you in this journey .
I have a practice number and all the midwife ICD10 and procedure codes and my services can be claimed back from your medical aid.
